I am a BACP registered and qualified integrative counsellor, working in the Totnes and Kingsbridge area of the beautiful South Hams, Devon. An integrative approach to therapy recognizes that everyone is unique, and different therapeutic techniques can be utilized to suit your individual needs.
At the core of my approach is the belief that we can all move in the direction that is right for us if we have the experience of truly being heard, in an environment free from judgment or preconception. Many people come to counselling because they feel stuck in some way – counselling can free us from this feeling and help our lives to flow in the direction we want.
To help with this process, techniques from several theoretical models can be used. For instance, bodywork and mindfulness can help us to welcome emotions and senses in a safe, gentle way. Attachment theory can help us to understand how our present behavior is sometimes shaped by the past. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Gestalt methods enable us to change those behaviours if they are no longer of use to us. And existential theory can deepen our understanding and awareness of what our life means to us.
I work flexibly and creatively, and always in the service of the client. You are the centre of the experience, and we will work together to gain insight, clarity and an improved sense of wellbeing.
